OCC: Mother's Day Card

Hi everyone, I hope you're having a great weekend. It's time for our weekly OCC challenge - and this week we're making Mother's Day cards with a twist - no flowers!!!

It was only as I started trying to choose my focal image for this project that I realised just how many floral sets I have! In the end I went with this awesome bird silhouette and built my vintagey card around it.

There's a LOT of stamping in this gift set! To start with, I made my own background paper for this weeks Crafty Creations challenge.
To make my paper I stamped the Linen Background in Baja Breeze on Baja Breeze card. I then stamped the Medallion image in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. I brayered on more Baja ink, sponged the edges and took the caramel sponging over the medallion to make it "pop" off the background. I then ran the leaf prints wheel over the piece and lastly stamped the french text background from Rustic Rooster in a few places. Whew - with me so far?!

I've used the Mojo Monday sketch for this week - flipping the positioning of the circle and scallop elements to suit my card. All the layers are sponged with Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip ink. I have distressed the bird layer, and also added some light stamping with the text background.

I over stamped on the designer paper for the inside strip and carried over some of the trim and rhinestones from the front of the card.

I used the same emboss resist technique to create the main paper layer on the matching pillow box as well as stamping the bird again, cutting it out and adhering it with dimensionals.

Head on over to the OCC Blog to see all the fantastic design team creations - I hope you'll play along with us this week!
