Creative Challenge - No Patterned Paper!

The MFT Team are sharing our projects for the monthly Creative Challenge today....

This month's challenge is to create without using patterned paper! I normally use at least two patterns per card, so this is a bit of a challenge! I've created a couple of clean and simple cards using my fave layout and focused on the stamping.

My first card uses one of my all time favourite sets, Own Your Story. I've used chalk inks on MFT Natural Cardstock for an earthy feel.

I created interest at the bottom of the card by stamping a flourish multiple times. This is my favourite layout for clean and simple cards -  horizontal interest in the bottom third of the card with one main focal point to the right hand side.

I wanted a journal card kind of feel for my focal point. I stamped the notebook lines on the middle "left-over" piece from the First Class Friend die-namics. I went along and punched out between the binder holes, for a little added interest.

I added a heart from Hearts a Plenty and an MFT Button finishes off the accent piece.

Inside my clean and simple cards I usually stick to stamping only.

Here I've stamped the large sentiment, and used the flourish stamp to frame it, adding in some piercing to tie in with the front of the card.

For my second card I've stuck with the same layout principle, and used a black and white colour scheme with a pop of red. This is another of my favourite tricks when creating without patterned paper - use a "wow" colour for some pop!

My stamps for this one are from Sweet and Sassy. I've used the Sweet Stack labels for my focal piece.

I used a heart from Hearts a Plenty as a substitute for the circle layer in the Die-namics set. I added some white gel pen stitching.

I've also stitched along the scalloped piece to tie it in with the heart. I've rounded the corners on my card to mimic the look of the label Die-namics and the scalloped border. A rhinestone flourish from ZVA Creative finishes everything off.

On the inside of this card I've again simple stamped the sentiment. I added the flourish in red to emphasise the sentiment.

Be sure to stop by Kim's Blog to see what the MFT team have come up with! I hope we've inspired you to try leaving out the patterned paper on your next creation!

Here are the wonderful MFT products I've used today!
