SugarPea Challenge: Clean and Simple!

Hello friends! It's time for a new SugarPea Designs challenge, and this one is easy - clean and simple cards! CAS means lots of white space (or open space of another color) and one main focal point.

I went for a technique on my card, the chalkboard technique!

I started with some green cardstock, and sponged on green distress ink until it looked kinda mottled. Jenny, one of my fellow SugarPeas made a card with a green chalkboard awhile ago, and I thought it looked so awesome! I heat embossed the image and sentiment from the new Hats Off To You set then sponged on some white pigment ink to make the board look "chalky".

The base of the board is cut from woodgrain paper. I cut a little piece of chalk and the eraser by hand, using a dark grey felt for the eraser. The wall background is simply paper, and a strip of white cardstock. I really love how this one turned out!

  •  Play along with any stamp you like - but if you use SugarPea Designs, we'll top your voucher up to $15!
  • Combine our challenge with any other challenge(s)!
  • Upload to your blog or other online gallery using keyword: SPD04 so that we may check out your beautiful work
  • Add your link to the linkup on the SugarPea Blog. You'll find our current challenges on the sidebar.

Birthday Girl

It's time for another fun challenge at Crazy for Challenges!

This week it's time for our monthly sketch challenge. Here's my card...

I used Verve's Birthday Bash stamp set. I went with a chalkboard look, combining a bunch of sentiments and the star images. The balloons are paper pieced. I used the Starry Die and the small stars fit really well in the embossed outlines - love that!

Now it's time to go see all the fab inspiration from the design team, happy hopping!

Wilbur Blog Hop Challenge

Welcome to our third day of Blog Hop Challenges, where we are introducing the newest sock goblin, Wilbur!! We love that you have been playing along everyday, so keep up the commenting!! We love our fans!!

Wilbur is a 3x4 set that includes a total of 3 stamps and will sell for $9.00. This set will be for sale at 11pmEST on Saturday, August 31st.

I wanted to use these pretty pastel papers - I'm loving pastels at the moment - and wanted to pair them with a dramatic black panel. I remembered this awesome chalkboard look Heather shared last month, so plugged in my heat gun and got to work!

I used a Picket Fence Distress Marker to add a little detail to the image, filling in some stripes and the horns.

The layout is this week's There She Goes sketch! I changed it up to a square card base and lopped off a little of the circle element. I found a pack of black paperclips in a discount bin over the weekend and snagged them as I'm loving black embellies lately. I added a little flag of washi tape to this one.

Here's the inside of my card...

Wilbur was too cute not to use again, I heat embossed him on the patterned paper. Subtle but I like it!

Would you like to win the new Wilbur  stamp set? Here is what you need to do- visit the Trendsetter’s blogs that are participating in each of the blog hop challenges below and comment on their creations as you go. One of the Trendsetter’s blogs (from each hop day) will be randomly chosen as the ‘it’ blog and a winner will be picked using a random number generator from the comments left on that Trendsetter’s Blog Hop Challenge post.

You will not know which blog has been chosen so the more you comment on the better your chances are of winning new stamps! The Blog Hop Challenges will be open until 5 PM Eastern Time Saturday, August 31st with the winner being announced during the release party chat.

Dirty Mojo

Hi peeps! Wow - it's August already, this year is scooting by, right? I have a Verve card for you today, featuring the current Mojo Monday sketch and lots of inspiration from the Dare To Get Dirty challenges (you need to be a fan club member to see just what they are exactly!)

With my last gorgeous parcel I received Doodled Occasions and it is such a fun set! Here I've used it chalkboard style. I admit, my flower is just a *tad* larger than the one the sketch called for - but it's fun, right? I made it using a gluber glue dot and ribbon.

Hope your week is going well, Friday here tomorrow, woohoo! Check out the massive Anni-verve-sary sale here!
