Emboss with Colour

Whew....it's been a busy week, but I'm happy to report all my Christmas shopping is done and dusted (I can't say the same for Shanan who has to brave the mall tonight!) and everything is ready for Leroy to arrive tomorrow! Now get ready....it might be winter in your corner of the world, but you might need your sunglasses for this one...
This week I'm challenging everyone at OCC to add some colour to your dry embossing. You can pre-ink your embossing folder or use a brayer/sponge to dab on ink after you've embossed.

I like to use a brayer - you get the most even ink coverage that way. There are two embossed and inked elements on this card, the polka dot background and the flower which was embossed, inked then die-cut.

My colour combo is Melon Mambo, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie and Wild Wasabi - it's a little retro don't you think?
I've also added a little sparkle to the outer edges of the rose petals by using Cinnamon Stickles - I like to apply it with a rubber brush, but a toothpick would work too.

If you're not TOO busy I hope you'll stop by and join in at the OCC this week - as well as taking a peek at what the other girls came up with!

Paper & Card: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Melon Mambo, Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie and Wild Wasabi Ink: Chocolate Chip, Melon Mambo
Big Shot: Little Leaves die

Stamps: Polka Dot Greetings + Dienamic, MFT Stamps
Other: Rectangle Nestabilities, Satin Ribbon, Stickles, Embossing Folders, Jumbo Brads, Rolled Rose Die-namic

  1. Sarah, what fun bright colors! I do really like the ink you used on your polka dots. I wouldn't have thought to go dark so I'll have to try that! Thanks for the challenge!

  2. Hi Sarah. Just found you thru OCC. Glad to find another NZ Crafter. Love your flower. Did you roll it or die cut it? It is wonderful and colourful.
    Cheers

  3. Hi Sarah! Happy Christmas sweetie! Yep! You are right ... sunglass alert! But ... somehow what would look atrocious for me ... you manage to make work so beautifully! You just have the knack! Love that extra element of adding colour to the dry embossing. Must try this out soon! Hugs xxaxx
