Fun with Folds

In 2011, MFT is working harder than ever to inspire you, and we have come up with something we think you'll really enjoy. Our Design Team Creative Challenge is a new monthly feature, where we challenge our design team to explore their creative side using a specific theme, product or technique. This month, we're all making cards featuring Fun Folds!   Visit Kim's Blog for a full list of designers that have taken up the challenge!

I used the creative challenge as the kick in the pants I needed to finally make a Joy Fold card. I've always admired this fold but hadn't tried one till now - and it was so super simple! I used the directions for a square card found here.

My advice if you feel a little intimidated is to cut the pieces you need for the base and folding parts - once you see how easily they go together I'm sure you'll be inspired! I created my card from the base up, creating the folds, then choosing papers and my image, it all came together quickly once I got started.

Here's my card closed. I used a Basic Grey magnetic snap to hold it all together nicely. I coloured the new PI- Poppy with Copics and paper pieced her dress. I stamped the poppy twice and popped it up on a foam dot. She is layered on one of the new Open Scallop Doily Duo Die-namics.

I chose to have my card open upwards and hid a sentiment on a strip from the First Place Award Ribbon Die-namic. I love seeing that sneak peak of the inside!

Here it is all open. I love all the flaps and hidden spaces this kind of card creates. I hope you feel inspired to try a new fold today, don't forget to head over to Kim's Blog to see the list of designers who have created something special to share!

Here are the Die-namics I've used today:
